Nina witnessed a cold blooded murder. Some of the men involved were cops from different areas, as the patches on the uniform were different. She had been on the roof of a building looking at the stars when she her loud voices below. She used the camera on her telescope to film the meeting below her, but when the gun went off and one of the men fell to the ground, she screamed and they looked up.She grabbed the camera and ran, getting away but with no place to go. She did make a copy of the video and sent the original to the governor's office with a note of what she saw happen. She laid low for several days, then showed up at Rex' s back door. He had seen the missing person report on her, but after hearing her story decided to take her home to the ranch just in case there were dirty cops at his office.
The bad guys found them and there's a shoot out like the old western movies.
A good story with the right amount of intrigue, danger and romance. Good series.

Randi has done it again, with a well crafted short story. Murder, a little mystery, throw in some intrigue, along with a couple who can't seem to keep their hands off each other and this is a winner! This may be a short story, but it's packed with everything a reader could possibly want.
Rex Tarrow, a rookie detective, working on a missing persons case is frustrated and losing sleep, when the missing person shows up at his door. Dr. Mina Cooper is running for her life, after being a witness to a murder. Dr. Cooper arrives at Detective Tarrow's door with a story he can't quite believe, but also can't prove otherwise. Tarrow and the good Doctor are off to the races, hiding from the threat against her. The longer their together it becomes harder to ignore the sizzling heat between them. It's a indulgence they can't refuse.

Badge in the Saddle, Heroes in the Saddle Book 2, by Randi Alexander, is a great read! I’ve read several of Ms. Alexander’s books and she does not disappoint. This is the story of Detective, Rex Tarrow, and Astronomer, Mina Cooper, and is full of action, adventure, intrigue, and of course romance. Though they are very different people, the chemistry between Rex and Mina ramps up the sexual tension. Rex, a sexy, rugged cowboy who is slow to trust is put to the test by Dr. Mina and others around him. I enjoyed reading more about Treven and Delta, characters from the first book in the series, Hot in the Saddle, which is just as good as this one. I really liked the character of the witty, old retired sheriff, who helps guide Rex to follow his heart. The plot is interesting and original and full of twists and turns.
All in all, I truly enjoyed Badge in the Saddle and highly recommend it. It’s a must read for western romance and romantic suspense fans. I’m really looking forward to reading Saddle and a Siren, Clint’s story, next.

Badge and a Saddle is the second book in the Heroes in the Saddle series by Randi Alexander and it has a sexy law abiding cowboy detective and a geeky on the run scientist!
Rex Tarrow is investigating the disappearance of astronomer Mina Cooper, when the unthinkable happens, she turns up on his doorstep. She has secrets and is on the run, doesn’t know who to trust and takes a chance that she can trust Rex. Even so, she only trusts him so far.
Rex and Mina go on the run to try and work out what is going on and to find out who they can trust. The geek and the cop are attracted to each other and their connection is strong and powerful, but is it strong enough to withstand the secrets that Mina has deliberately kept from Rex?
This was a great continuation of the series Heroes in the Saddle. We get to meet Treven, Delta and Clint again (from Book 1), as they come to the assistance of Rex and Mina. Mina worms her way into Rex’s life and heart, but she is still keeping secrets from him.
This is a well crafted story that is longer than book one. It definitely has more guts to it and we get a more in depth coverage of the couple, their situation and their feelings for each other, as well as a shoot out with crooked cops and Clint using his ambulance as a type of battering ram. Ouch!
Can Rex forgive Mina the fact that while she did tell him most of the story, she left out some pertinent details? Can they overcome their issues and find their own ways back to each other? Get Badge and a Saddle to find out. You won’t regret it!
This book was not what I expected when I read the title as I was expecting "a cowboy" however I still enjoyed the book and was surprised the twist that it took. All the characters made me wonder what they were going to do next. There was still the sex and love but was hard to get to it.
If you like intelligent heroines in trouble and sexy cops that happen to be good dedicated cowboys this is for you. Intrigue, deception and hot sex leave you wanting for more. Just like all of this author's work, it's a must read. Hard to put down once you start.
Interesting addition to the series, full of mystery and suspense. The story line keeps you enthralled from start to finish and the characters are amazing. The chemistry between Rex and Mina grows as he tries to keep her safe from harm. Loved this story and look forward in this series.
A quick short story heavier on the romance, with a couple of steamy, sexy scenes.
Rex and Mina's story seems like it was a little longer than Hot in the Saddle. I liked the elements of mystery and suspense while Rex and Bennett tried to figure out who was after Mina. Between Mine's little secret, and Rex's sense of duty, you get that touch of angst.
An entertaining afternoon read that I would definitely recommend.
