This book was a departure for me, in that I am not a regular reader of this genre. I found myself very involved in the interior lives of not only the main character, Harper, but a couple of ghostly presences, Jack and Angela. There are a lot of threads running through this novel, but the author never loses track of Harper's journey to find herself again after the death of her fiance. The ending was quite a surprise, but not an unpleasant one, and after some thought it seemed to be the most appropriate one. For a first novel, this is quite an accomplishment, and hopefully Marissa Virtuoso will grace us with future well-written and thoughtful books like this one.

A truly good story.
This is an awesome and unique book. I have never read anything quite like this before. I would like to beg the author for a prequel or another book in the series... Please!! Maybe a book about Lucas or Angela?? I definitely want to read more bc I was so interested in these characters. I was really rooting for Harper and I felt like her story was explained so well. I would definitely recommend this in-depth love/ghost story!
The Indigo Bunting is a beautiful, heartbreaking story about Harper, a young woman who finds herself completely lost after a tragedy. This would have been a regular story about love and loss, but the author took a unique twist and added a ghostly element that is both haunting and comforting. The characters are well developed and I care for them deeply, always wanting Harper to find her happiness. This novel is filled with emotion and touches on some deep topics. It is captivating, and one of my favorites this year!
I loved this book! I have never read a book quite like this before and it was such a great read I could not put it down. Harper's journey through life is full of twists and turns and lots of emotion. Her struggles and story are very moving and will make you want to know more. I loved her strength, struggle and courage to find true happiness in life. I enjoyed all the characters and found myself wanting to know more about each of them as well as I continued to read. This was a great first novel by Marissa Virtuoso and I can't wait for more!
A friend recommended this book to me, so I knew it would be a fun read. I was surprised that the book completely exceeded my expectations. I had not finished a single novel for over seven months, but I breezed through this one in three nights. The main character, Harper, struggled to deal with a tragic loss, and I was emotionally drawn to her, anxious to see her through. Each of the characters were thoroughly developed, and I especially enjoyed Harper's new love interest, Lucas. After finishing the book, I continued to think about his struggles, and what choices he might make to find happiness. I highly recommend this novel to anyone looking for an addicting love story, with some intersting twists. I look forward to reading whatever the talented Virtuoso might create next.
I just finished reading The Indigo Bunting and by the way, who knew there was a bird by that name. When I ordered the book, I expected the story to have something to do with a baby bunting. I really enjoyed the story and the ending really took me by surprise. I no way expected what happened and that is unusual for me. I found the characters to be engaging and well developed. Developments in the story brought out an emotional response and at times I wasn't sure I wanted to turn out the light and go to bed. I did feel the story was a little unbelievable and rushed during the trip to Seattle however that was corrected once she returned to Wilmington. Additionally, I would have liked to know more about Lucas. He obviously has some issues and secrets of his own and I would have liked to know more about him. All in all, this was an enjoyable read with a twist in a love story. I would recommend this book.
Some books fail to interest me in the beginning but with The Indigo Bunting I was able to jump right into the fortunate and unfortunate world of Harper Lexington. I thoroughly enjoyed Harper and her story of past love, tragedy, lingering love and new love. In real life, her character could be one of my best friends. The author had an excellent way of making the reader struggle with what direction Harper should take and feeling the velocity of the result. Great job Marissa Virtuoso, I hope you will write another book in the near future.
