Crossbones An Omega Days Novel Book 4 eBook John L Campbell

The latest John Campbell Omega Days novel is yet again another top-notch zombie adventure that puts the Walking Dead to shame.
And I love the Walking Dead!
But this uber-awesome series has no weaknesses. (Except the cliffhanger ending that makes me wanna cry for more.)
Fantastic storyline that Hollywood SHOULD make ASAP? Check.
Colorful and extremely interesting characters of all kinds? Check.
Terrific and well realised, fleshed-out world and zany characters. Check.
Awesome action sequences? Check.
And the praises can just go on and on.
My wife HATES zombie TV and movies, but after forcing the first book of this series down her throat, she now only loves this particular writer who is just that talented. It's the overall solid pacing and deep characters that also draw you into the story.
But beware! They are extremely addictive, and, like George R. R. Martin's Game of thrones, he kills characters off left and right. Sometimes it upsets me, but I get it. This is what a world gone madly amok with zombies, bad people, terrible earthquakes and other forces of Mother nature would do to even 'good' people.
And it ups the ante of the reading experience.
One of our all-time favorite authors in just a mere handful of books.
Yes, John L. Campbell is that talented a writer.

Crossbones An Omega Days Novel Book 4 eBook John L Campbell Reviews

I cannot put this series down! I am obsessed. I am doing no housework, no laundry, no cooking, nothing. All I do is devour these novels. Crossbones adds new characters, and I thought it was going in one direction, but Campbell did a 180. Full of twists and turn and I can't express how much I admire his writing style.
Book 4 (this is the 4th book, right?) in this series delivers the goods yet again. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. As always the characters are well defined and you end up caring about what happens to them. Lots of action. If you've read the other books in this series you've got to read this one. The way it ends I'm guessing there'll be another book coming along and it looks like they will probably have to make some very hard choices and fast.
Crossbones itself lays good elements for a greater series. Will Skye come into her own? Will she hook back up with the family, bringing the Nimitz survivors and Reno together?? Are there others out there who help build a stronger collective??? And there are other issues. Have the nukes fallen? What has been their affect upon the zombie physiology? These questions and others are viewed with anticipation as opposed to the usual frustration due to Campbell's intelligent execution, sprinkling hints of the greater picture throughout his storyline. My entire cabal recommends reading this book and we all look forward to the next iteration of the series. (hint, hint)

I liked this series from the start. If your a fan of zombie fiction you'll really enjoy this series and it always interesting/frightening to read about cities/geography you know well. The first book was a little rough but the characters were strong. But the author got better and better as I kept moving through the series, wanting more and too see what happens next. The pay off in books 3 and 4 is tremendous. Not overly sentimental, action packed and compelling. The scenarios in the stand alone adventures are strong and keep propelling you forward. Still a lot of unanswered questions at the end of this book so my guess (hope!) is that this writer isn't nearly done yet.
**Spoilers herein me matey..arrrghh** Told from mainly from the point of view of new characters that do not advance the narrative. Relentlessly depressing and seems to serve no purpose other than to kill off some characters and get them off the Nimitz in the most over dramatic way possible. (spoilers)Unbelievably the plot is that the enemy is the kin of a pirate that turns(surprise) pirate in like 5 minutes after the s...t hits the fan. They try and loot the Nimitz and then the biggest earthquake ever ends the book and kills the bad girl. I really liked the first 2 books and just liked the 3rd. This one....no...pointless
RE-READ this book to make sure a correct review was left as I mistakenly didn't leave one the first time I read it. Father Xavier, Calvin, Rosa, Evan & the rest of their group, consider themselves family and for the time being, think their safe, from anyone or thing that would wish to cause them harm. But being on a grounded Aircraft Carrier out in the Bay may have caused them let their guard down, not so much against the undead, but also against the living. Captain Elizabeth Kidd, has saved her brother Senior Chief Charlie Kidd, from arrest by the DEA and certain death at the hands and teeth of the undead, as she doesn't believe the charges that were brought against her brother, in the beginning of all the chaos around her. But as she does what she can to keep her crew and the last of her living family member alive, will Captain Kidd, lose what's left of her humanity in the process? Another book, in one great Series, by John L. Campbell, that will keep you reading, from cover to cover, not wanting to put in down until the very last page.
I thoroughly enjoyed this addition to the series. I purchased the copy the previous afternoon and I finished it the following day. I could not put it down! The story is extremely well written and the action built to a climax that had me pacing back and forth while reading. I enjoyed how the story skips back to the other group of survivors, telling their side of the nightmare, which only leads to more dread when the two sides are facing each other.

Dear readers, I beseech you, do not read these books. If so, you will, like myself, become a rotted husk of human flesh, quivering with an insatiable hunger, and waiting in darkened corridors for that next vict... err, book.

Seriously though, if you've read the previous books (which I highly recommend), you will enjoy this one as well. I *can not* wait for the next one.
